About the Board of Directors
All meetings are currently held on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 1 pm at the shelter facility at 6486 Highway 62 East, Eureka Springs. Our Board meetings are open to all GSHS members. In order to respect the time of the volunteer Directors, rules of order do apply and member comments are limited to 3 minutes per person. We appreciate professional and positive engagements.
The Board of Directors of GSHS are dedicated to those ideals expressed in our mission statement. Board Members serve 5-year terms. Board member responsibilities include setting policy for the animal shelter, grant writing, developing the animal shelter’s and thrift store’s annual budget, assisting the shelter director and thrift store manager with marketing, education and fundraising.
Board members are actively involved in various fundraising events and committees. Our volunteer Directors spend an average of 8-12 hours a month (or more) fulfilling board duties, including the monthly meetings. Directors are required to take an orientation class so they can get to know the procedures of the shelter and the staff. In addition, we ask our volunteer directors to work occasionally at one of the thrift stores in order to learn those processes and really get to know our volunteers. We are a very active board.
Become a board member! Please call Jay Fusaro 469-223-5201. Contact any of us and ask how you can help!

Good Shepherd Board of Directors
The Good Shepherd Humane Society is managed by a board of volunteers.
Our board is a mix of community leaders, business owners, animal lovers and passionate individuals.

Jay Fusaro
President of the Board
Jay joined the Board of Good Shepherd in May of 2016. After 24 years in Dallas, he and his wife, Rosemary, moved to Eureka Springs in 2015. Jay and Rosemary adopted Artie from Good Shepherd, and Artie is now a trained therapy dog! They also have a very cute senior cat named Beau.
Jay graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, is a CPA in the state of Texas, as well as a Certified SMU Business Coach. Jay is also a two-time award-winning author for his book titled, “From The Other Side of The Desk: A Practical Guide to Shortening Your Job Search.”

Mark Minton
Vice President
Mark is retired from the banking industry, and he’s a perfect match for our financial assistance. He’s married to his sweet wife, Mechelle, with 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Mark is currently living the dream in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Carmen Caldwell
Treasurer
Carmen has loved dogs and cats since her childhood in the suburbs of San Jose, California. After earning an MBA from Berkeley, she spent over 15 years as a retail buyer. She and husband Robert lived on a ranch in north Texas and had lots of room to adopt strays. In 2004, they moved to Eureka Springs and bought the Tall Pines Inn, accompanied by 3 cats and 1 dog. Now retired, they’re down to 3 different cats – all rescues. Carmen is honored to serve the cats and dogs of our community – and their humans!

Linda Coker
Secretary
Linda was born in Mississippi but spent most of her life in Northeast Florida. She was an elementary educator in Florida for 33 years and retired to Arkansas with her family in 2015. Not long after moving to Eureka, Linda began volunteering at one of the Good Shepherd Thrift Stores. She adopted her fur baby, Buddy, from Good Shepherd in 2017. He has been a constant companion to her and her dad, and Buddy means the world to them. She enjoys everything outdoors and appreciates Arkansas’s multiple seasons and takes full advantage of each one.

Andrea Peterson
Andrea is a native of London, England, and recently became a United State citizen. She’s been married to Barry Peterson for more than 28 years. She and Barry moved from Louisiana to the Eureka Springs area in 2003, where they built their log home. Joining them through the years are their lovely dogs that they adore and have enjoyed dearly named Annabelle, Calais, Bentley and Cheslea.
Along with being a board member of GSHS since September 2017, Andrea is the Assistant Vice President for Cornerstone Bank. She has a tenure of 8 years specializing in customer service, IRAs, and Senior Deposit services. In 2015, she and her husband, Barry, also opened their own window tinting business: Bare Glass Tinting. Prior to her banking career, Andrea served 14 years as an operations manager in electronic communications. Through all the years, she has always been a part of the Humane Society, whether it is by donating, volunteering, or adopting. Her passion for animals encourages others to be aware of their needs and realize that shelters cannot do it alone and need our support.

Cody Qualls
Cody is Executive Director of Development, Community and Corporate Relations for Mercy Hospital in Berryville. He is married to his wife, Markie, and has one daughter, Maryn. He has two rescue animals — cat Pepper and dog Cooper — and enjoys floating and fishing on the beautiful Kings River.

Tracy Williams
After owning a dog grooming business in Minnesota for 35 years, Tracy retired and moved to Holiday Island. She adopted 3 dogs from Good Shepherd. She volunteers several hours a week at both thrift stores and at the shelter. Tracy also fosters and trains dogs from the shelter that need extra help to be adoptable.

Ann Tandy-Sallee
Annie, as her friends call her, moved to Eureka Springs with her husband, David in 2013. Shortly after moving they lost their beloved Maggie of 14 years and adopted Sam from the Good Shepherd. Annie graduated from Langston University with a degree in Corrections and retired from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections in 2014. In addition to being on the Board of Directors, she sits on the Eureka Springs Planning Commission.
