WHAT IS SPAY / NEUTER?
A spay surgery is the surgical sterilization procedure for female animals and neuter surgery is the surgical sterilization procedure for male animals.
​
Animals who have been surgically sterilized, sometimes known as “fixed”, will not be able to reproduce, which in turn will help control the animal population.
​
Routine spay & neuter clinic days are offered on select days each month and schedules may vary.
Spay & neuter services are done by appointment, which can be made online down below.

All animals must be in good health and will be checked by the attending veterinarian before accepting them into surgery.
​
Our clinic does not accept snub-nosed breeds as they often require more specialized care while under anesthesia. We also typically do not perform surgery on animals over the age of 7 years. On our mobile Fido Fixers unit, we do not accept dogs over 80 lbs due to limited space on the surgical unit.

Good Shepherd Humane Society works with partners throughout North Arkansas to bring mobile spay and neuter services to areas with limited veterinary care.

Additional procedures may be needed at the time of surgery, including, but not limited to, hernia repair or cryptorchid procedures. Pricing will be determined on the day of the surgery.
VACCINES
Vaccines are administered at scheduled clinics only. No walk-ins are accepted at the shelter. We do not offer Bordetella vaccines, nail trims, or other services not listed below at Vaccine Clinics.​

RABIES...................................FREE
Rabies vaccines are mandatory per Arkansas state law and must be administered by a state licensed veterinarian. All animals will be vaccinated for rabies at time of surgery if 16 weeks of age or greater unless proof of current rabies vaccine is provided prior to or at time of check in for surgery. Good Shepherd staff will not call your private veterinarian to verify this. It is your responsibility to bring us a copy of the rabies certificate. A rabies tag alone will not be accepted as verification as it does not give the information regarding the specific animal.

FVRCP......................................FREE
This vaccine prevents three common and highly contagious feline illnesses: feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia.

This vaccine prevents four different viruses: canine distemper, infectious hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus.​​
